Please read and share the following information if you are cycling in the Parade.

Arrival
The Cycle Parade will commence at 13:00 from West Street (RG14 1BD). All participants will need to be ‘in position’ by 12:45, so we would encourage you to arrive as early as possible. We suggest that you aim to arrive between 12:15 and 12:30. West Street will be closed to incoming traffic from midday onwards.

You can access West Street from either end of the road and our marshals will direct you to one of four designated zones within West Street where cyclists will gather and wait for the start.

-
Zone 1: Veteran, classic and speciality bikes
-
Zone 2: Family Groups
-
Zone 3: Casual cyclists
-
Zone 4: Cycling Club Riders
When you have found your Zone, facing toward Northbrook Street, please wait near the left side, to allow other cyclists passage to find their Zone.

Safety
-
We strongly advise you wear a cycle helmet.
-
Please cycle slowly (it’s not a race) and be aware of other road users.
-
Shout “STOPPING” if you need to stop.
-
We will set off in waves, please leave a gap between the waves to allow pedestrians to cross the Parade if required.
-
There are some narrow sections of the route so please set off two abreast and stay that way for the duration of the Parade.
-
Leave plenty of space between you and the cyclist in front of you. Don’t overtake.
-
The Parade passes through pedestrianised streets, has a brief section on public roads, and then passes through Victoria Park. Please observe the highway code when on public roads.
-
The Parade passes through two sets of traffic lights, one at each of the bridges over the canal. In both cases, for the duration of the Parade, the traffic lights can be ignored – follow the guidance of marshals instead. You may be directed to wait at the Parkway bridge crossing to allow a bus to cross.
-
When you get to the end of the Parade in Victoria Park, either keep your bike with you, or use the bike park area on the right-hand side adjacent to the bowling lawns.
-
Don’t forget to lock your bike if leaving it unattended.
